Overview

The Rotary Club of South Pasadena has five service areas, or committees: Administration, Membership, Public Relations, Service Projects, and the Rotary Foundation. All report to the Board, which sets policy, approves the annual budget, and does strategic planning.

Administration

The Administration Committee conducts all the administrative activities of the Club. The Club Secretary and Treasurer are part of this Committee. Among the tasks are planning monthly programs that are offered by speakers or current club members, plus planning back-up programs in case of speaker cancellations.

Membership

The Membership Committee develops and implements a plan for recruiting and retaining club members. It is responsible for proposing, inducting, and mentoring new members. The Committee develops a formal mentoring system for new members, creates social events, promotes district training and conferences, and promotes participation in Rotary International Conventions.

Public Relations

The Public Relations Committee provides the public with information about Rotary, as well as promoting the club's service projects, fundraisers and other activities. The goal is to raise awareness in creative ways as to what the Rotary Club does.

Service Projects

The Service Projects Committee plans and carries out educational, humanitarian, and vocational projects that address the needs of the club's community as well as communities in other countries. The Committee is also responsible for youth programs. Service projects include a "hands-on" international project such as building Corazon House in Mexico, awarding scholarships and leadership training, running the George Hensel Ethics Essay contest, and planning hands-on service projects in the local community (such as fireworks during the Fourth of July, a rabies clinic for pets, co-sponsoring the Police Appreciation Luncheon, and Disaster Preparedness initiatives).

The Rotary Club also donates books related to California to the South Pasadena Golden State Collection, in honor of our speakers at weekly meetings.

Rotary Foundation

The Rotary Foundation Committee develops and carries out plans to support the Rotary Foundation through financial contributions and through club participation in Foundation programs.
